Election campaign, tell your candidates: decriminalise sex work for safety's sake

There is less than a month till we vote in the snap general election. We have to act quickly! Please tell your prospective parliamentary candidates that you won’t vote for them unless they give serious consideration to the decriminalisation of sex work. Sex workers are prevented by the law from working safely and record numbers are facing raids, arrests, prosecution and even prison. At the same time prostitution is increasing because of rising poverty. The parliamentary Home Affairs Committee just recommended the decriminalisation of sex workers on the street and in premises. Ask candidates whether, if they are voted into Parliament, they will support the Committee's recommendations and oppose any efforts to increase criminalisation including of sex workers' clients. New Zealand's Prostitution Reform Act decriminalised sex work in 2003 with verifiable improvements in health and safety. We want a similar law here.
